The causes behind the disintegration of the Delhi Sultanate after the Tughlaqs were

1. The policies of Muhammad bin Tughlaq: Several failed policies of Muhammad bin Tughlaq like the shifting of the capital to Daulatabad, issue of token currency and high taxation weakened the sultanate.

3. These policies of Muhammad bin Tughlaq emptied the treasury and severely disrupted the economic life of the people.

2. The religious intolerance of Firoz shah Tughlaq.

3. Firoz shah Tughlaq allowed the ulemas to increase their influence upon the administration which further alienated the Hindu subjects of the sultanate.

4. Firoz shah Tughlaq also gave extensive authority to the nobles which weakened the central authority of the sultan.
