Political parties became omnipresent in democracies the world over as democratic process is based upon the principle of elections and representative decision-making. Political parties are the institutions that allow for the accumulation of ideas and churn them into ideology. Their presence simplified the choices to be made by voters. Party system also made it easier to identify which side held the majority and thus enhanced collective decision making. It also provided a legitimate space to conduct public debates.
