WHAT WAS THE IDEA OF A CIVILISING MISSION ?

The idea of civilizing mission is related to colonialism. Europeans argued that people of Asia and Africa were less civilized than Europeans. Hence, they said that colonizing these countries was a civilizing mission. Through colonizination, they argued, Asians and Africans could be uplifted to the level of Europeans. Hence, they pretended their colonial exploits as a civilizing mission.
