what is the point at which the line joining (3,1) and(2,-1) meets the x and y axis

Hello Salma dear, the equation of the line joining (3,1) and (2,-1) is got by these steps
x - x1 / x1 - x2 = y - y1 / y1 - y2
So x - 3 / 3 - 2 = y - 1 / 1 + 1
==> x - 3 = (y- 1) / 2
OR 2 x - y - 5 = 0
As this cuts x axis then point is got by plugging y = 0
So we have ( 5/2 , 0) is the point where x axis meets the given line
Same way plugging x = 0 we get (0, -5) is the point where y axis meets the line
