two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 24 cm and 18 cm if the distance between the longer side is 12cm,find the distance between the shorter side

Hi! Here is the answer to your question Area of parallelogram considering DC as base = DC ï½ AE = 24 ï½ 12 cm2 = 288 cm2 Area of parallelogram considering BC as base = BC ï½ AF288 = 18 ï½ AF So, 18 ï½ AF = 288 AF = 16 cm Distance between the shorter sides = 16 cm Cheers!

Given: Two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are AB =24 cm and BC=18cm.

and the distance between the longer side , DE= 12 cm

Let the distance between the shortest side , DF= x cm

Area of parallelogram considering AB as base = AB DE = 24 12 cm2

Area of parallelogram considering BC as base = BC AF = 18 AF=18x

Since the area are the same

AB DE = BC AF

⇒24 12 =18x

or x =

Area of a parallelogram= b*h
Therefore area of the parallelogram = 24*12= 288

Area of the parallelogram= 288
                                        = b*h
                                      = 18*x
So,distance between shorter side = x= 288/18
                                                   = x = 16.
So, the distance between the shorter side of the parallelogram is 16 cm.

Let the distance between shorter side be x cm. Since area=base×height 24×12=18× X X=24×12/18 X=16 cm
