Secularism is an important feature of Indian Constitution”. Trace how are the roots of it seen in Akbar’s Din-i-Ilahi.

Akbar created the new religion called Din-i-Ilahi. The objective of this religion was to remove the traditional distinctions between his Hindu and Muslim subjects. Akbar believed in treating all his subjects equally irrespective of religion. Din-i-Ilahi was a reflection of this ideology of Akbar. It is this philosophy that is also reflected in the secular ideal of the Indian Constitution.
