"Power sharing is the very spirit of democracy." Justify the statement with reference to the cases of Belgium and Sri Lanka.

Power sharing is the spirit of democracy; here People have a right to be consulted on how they are/will be governed. Here all communities, social groups have the same rights. Each one has the right to be consulted and earn some contribution in governance. Power sharing grants equal right to each one and hence there is a possibility of reduced conflicts between social groups.

Community government in Belgium and SriLanka is an excellent example of power sharing. They have adopted power sharing democracy and manage social conflicts that often lead to violence and political instability. Communities in Belgium and Srilanka contribute their share in governmental power, by bringing influence on the decision-making process.
