The abdomen in both males and females consists of 10 segments. In case of female cockroach, 7th sternum is shaped like a boat. The 7th 8th and 9th sterna form a genital pouch , the anterior or front part of this pouch contains the gonopore, spermathecal pores and collateral glands.
while in case of male cockroach, genital pouch is located at the hind end of abdomen. This is bonded dorsally by the 10th terga and ventrally by the 9th sterna.
