Solution :

(a) A simple pendulum is defined as an object that has a small mass, also known as the pendulum bob, which is suspended from a wire or string of negligible mass. When displaced, a pendulum will oscillate around its equilibrium point due to momentum in balance with the restoring force of gravity.
Time period of an event is the duration of time it takes to complete the event.
For example - the time period of a pendulum is the time taken by the pendulum to complete one oscillation.

(b) Given:
Time taken to complete 20 oscillations = 36 sec
Time taken to complete 1 oscillation = 36/20
                                                                t = 1.8 sec
