Please do these three questions

Solution:

2. Traditional methods -
  1. Lever system- involves a large wheel to pull out water attaches to lever which is turned bu bullock.
  2. pulley system- water is directly taken out from wells with the help of pulley and is used in irrigation.
  3. Chain pump- several discs are positioned to pull our water.
Modern methods -
  1. Sprinkler system - water is supplied in a control manner.
  2. Drip system - water is allowed to drip slowly in the soil to save water.
  3. Basin system - water is being flooded in the field and is used in paddy field.
Methods of irrigation that conserves water are-

Drip Irrigation System:

Drip irrigation is a method of slow watering the plants which is mostly used in the plant beds that require thorough watering to make the soil saturated with water. Typical drip irrigation layouts are prepared for people without any idea of drip irrigation.

Sprinkler System:

Sprinkler is used to irrigate a huge area at a time. It can spray water over a large area. It si mostly used in yards where wide spread watering is required only to soak the soil like grass lawn, flower beds etc.

3. The biodegradable kitchen waste like fruits and vegetable peels and other animal waste can be taken which can be used to make the manure at home. These materials can be put and covered in the soil layer along with the microorganisms like earthworms in the soil which will decompose these biodegradable waste to form compost. The material formed is the manure which acts as a nutrient enrichment for the soil as it is highly rich in humus and other nutrients required by the soil.

Manure is more advantageous than fertilizers because of the following reasons:

  • It improves soil texture
  • It improves water-retaining capacity of soil
  • Since manure is not nutrient specific so it replenishes all the nutrients of soil
  • It increases the number of useful micro-organisms in soiL.
  • It does not cause water pollution
  • It does not change the chemical nature of soil so it does not harm the fertility of soil.
