Q.4. Suppose records show that the average income in a country has been increasing over a period of time. From this, can we conclude that all sections of the economy have become better? Illustrate your answer with an example.

Dear Student,

a. This may not be the case as if the average income is on a rise, it does not necessarily mean that all sections of economy are doing better.
b.  Average income of a particular class may rise , which reflects on the overall average but other sections may be equally deprived .
c. We may give example of India, even if the average income has increased, poverty, unemployment continue to haunt our country.
d. There still exist wide disparity between the rich and the poor.
e. Also to note that all sectors of our economy are not equally developed, contribution of agriculture sector continue to remain low in terms, of GDP, despite high employment rate.
f. Further, SC's, ST's are the most vulnerable, they need social and economic protection so as to bring about qualitative growth and development of the society.

No, from this we cannot conclude that all sections of our economy have improved. For example, that in a country like India there is a huge gap between the rich and the poor, and in the recent years those rich people have become more wealthier then the per capita of the country will increase but there will be no difference in the condition of the poor people because their situation is the same.
