When Carter investigated King Tut's mummy, he found that the ritual resins had hardened around the mummy, cementing it to the bottom of the solid gold coffin. They tried to remove the mummy by force, but it wouldn't move. Even keeping the mummy out in the sun did not melt the resin. So in the end, he removed the mummy by chiselling away the hardened resin.
