HOW WATER LOGGING AND SOIL SALINITY ARE RELATED, ALSO DEFINE BOTH OF THEM?

  • The saturation of soil with water is termed as water logging.
  • Soils that have a high salt content are termed as salty soil or soil salinity.

  • Water logging and salinity are just the symptoms of a hydrological imbalance. If the saline water table nears the surface, water is evaporated and it increases the salt concentration in the soil profile, with salt often left on the surface. The combined effect of water logging and increased soil salinity is devastating for most plants.
