how does CO2 diffuse in the form of bicarbonate in RBC.
Explain!

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

The carbon dioxide (CO2) is converted to carbonic acid (H2CO3) inside the red blood cells by an enzyme known as carbonic anhydrase. Carbonic acid produced is an unstable molecule which gets dissociated immediately into bicarbonate ions and hydrogen ions. Hence, Carbon dioxide is diffused as bicarbonate in the RBCs.
