The Nationalist movement in India gave rise to the feeling of
unity, solidarity, patriotism, tolerance etc This boosted the
people to take part actively in the movement The people came to
know about the policies of the Britishers especially the divide and
rule policy which clearly reflected the colonialist attitude of the
Britishers People started boycotting educational institutions,
elections, courts, legislatures etc This forced the Britishers to
free India and give democracy to the Indians
Thus,the
values that inspired the nationalist movement become the foundation
of democracy
