How did the servant of RajendraPrasadknow that gandhi is not an untouchable?
Could also elaborate on that drawing the water from the well, i did not understand that part.

The servants of Rajendra Prasad's house knew Shukla, the man accompanying Gandhi was a poor yeoman who would pester their master to help the indigo sharecroppers so they had let him in on the grounds with his companion, Gandhi, whom they took to be another peasant. But Gandhi was not permitted to draw water from the well because they thought that along with being a yeoman, he was also untouchable. Gandhi's supposed untouchability would have polluted the entire source of water if some of the drops from his bucket spilled.

if you read page no. 47(flamingo) there is a question which is- 'how did they know that he was not an untouchable?'

Kindly elaborate. i dint understand that part at all.

listen its like that k "uun servent ko kaise pata chalta k gandhiji untouchable nahi hai because rajendra prasad didn't informed their servant about gandhiji being lawyer"

thats the reason k servants made gandhiji sit on ground thinking him as another peasent. they knew rajkumar shukla who was poor peasent but servent had no clue about gandhiji.


the line"how did they know that he was not an untouchable?" is little in the way of sarcasm

ok about drawing water thing
as u know gandhiji used to do each n every work by himself so when he approached the well to fetch water to drink at that time servant stopped him as servant mistook gandhiji as untouchable. And according to that era's belief if untouchable draws water from well and by chance a drop falls back from bucket touched by untouchable that would pollute whole well
