explain the formations of arid, red, laterite and mountain soil

Laterite Soil :
Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminium, and is commonly considered to have formed in hot and wet tropical areas. Nearly all laterites are of rusty-red coloration, because of high iron oxide content. They develop by intensive and long-lasting weathering of the underlying parent rock.

Red soil - Red soil is formed due to weathering of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Red soil, occupy about 65 percent of our land area. It is red in colour due to the presence of iron in it. Red soils are not so fertile. Groundnuts and horse gram grow in red soil.
