Describe in brief the situation of labour supply in Britain during the Victorian period.

a. There was huge supply of human labour in Britain, the industrialists hired them at low cost and were apprehensive of using and introducing machines which required huge investment. 
b. In many industries the demand for labour was seasonal in nature , for example gas works, breweries therefore industrialists preferred manual labour employing them in a particular season.

c. In England, many industries the demand for labor was seasonal, where the people were employed during peak seasons like breweries and gas works employed people on a large scale during winters, and then fired them.
d. Jobs in industries also depended on the network or friendship or kinship. 
e. Workers were compelled to take up odd jobs like hauling water, women washed clothes,
f. Many of them also turned to begging,
 committed theft etc.
