Release OH- ion in water

Acids do not change the colour of turmeric paper

Bases change the colour of turmeric paper from yellow to
red

Acids do not show any colour change with phenolphthalein

A drop of phenolphthalein when added to the basic solution
changes the colour of the solution to pink

Examples- Vinegar, lime juice etc
Examples - soap, baking soda etc
