Briefly explain the changing location of the iron and steel industry? Pls answer fast!

Dear Student,

The following points may help you:

The location of iron  and steel industry is guided by the following factors:

a. Iron and steel is the basic industry and serves as the backbone of our economic development. It provides raw materials, all types of machinery to run other industries. For example, machine, engineering industries.
b. The industry needs to have access to good transportaion facllty . We may gve exmaple of
TISCO started in 1907 at Sakchi by Dorabji Tata, near the confluence of the rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkai in Jharkhand. It was later renamed as Jamshedpur. Pittsburg enjoys locational advantage. It has best route for shipping iron ore.

c. Further, it has to be  strategically located  and be set up near the sources of raw material. For instance, Iron and Steel Plants at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Rourkela (Orissa), Bhilai (Chhattisgarh) and Durgapur (West Bengal) have been set up near the sources of raw material i.e., Iron ore.
d. Also to ensure regular water supply, For example TISCO  gets water supply from Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers. Piitusburgh is located near great lakes.
e. Further, locaton of the industry is also determined by the availaiblty of cheap labour.
f. It is important to note that a location of an industry may undergo a change depending on its need and requirement.
g. The industry also needs to be in  close  proximity to the railway station, to the iron ore, mangnese and coal deposits .
h.  Further, Steel plants must be located in close proximity to markets, as steel is the backbone and is required by many other industries from needles oil pins, to autos, ships, etc.
It will also reduce its cost of production and quicker transportation of the steel to the market.
