Are there any drawbacks of Van de Graff? If yes, what are they???
Following are some of the drawbacks of Van de Graff generators:
1. The current output of the generator is very low.
2. It cannot hold very high amount of charge as charge leaks to the surrounding air. It happens when the electric field of the charged sphere exceeds 3 × 106 V/m.
3. There is leakage of charge from the conveyer belt also.
