1)  Temples were considered as centre of development of society and settlements of people. Production was at its peak in such areas as craftspersons, weavers, money lenders, priests etc lived around the temples.
 
2)  Rulers provided lands as grants to temples for maintenance of people who were involved in it thus making it a hub or centre of economic, social and cultural life of people.
 
3)  Sculptors made images of gods and goddesses in different metals and gave them to temples.
