A student has three resistors of resistances 2 ohm, 6 ohm and 12 ohm.
(i)How will he join these resistors to get an equivalent resistance of 6 ohm?
(ii)What could be the highest and lowest equivalent resistances obtained by him when joining these resistors?

Dear student,

6 and 12 ohm are in parallel and then their resultant in series with 2 ohm.

Series combination will give maximum resistance, and connecting all of them in parallel will give minimum resistance.

6and12 ohm in parallel and ohm in series.
Series combination for highest and parallel for lowest
  • 0
Correction 2 ohms
