A man spends 20% of his salary on house rent. After spending 25% of the remainder he has Rs. 4800 left. What is his monthly salary?

Let the monthly salary of a man = Rs xAmount spent on house rent = 20% of Rs x = 20100x = Rs x5Remaining amount = Rs x - x5 = Rs 45xAmount spent again = 25 % of remaining                                   = 25100 × 45x                                   = Rs 15xthen, remaining amount = Rs 45x - 15x = Rs 35x∴ 35x = 4800x = 4800 × 53x = 1600 × 5x = Rs 8000∴ his monthly salary is Rs 8000.

Remaining money = 100% - 45% = 55%
Let the total be x
55% of x = remaining money
55/100 * x = 4800
x =4800 * 100/55
Calculate using this method
And you will get the total
