a. The European trading companies were attracted towards country's rich resources like spices, silk, gold .
b. They wanted to trade , purchase Indian goods at cheap prices and sell them in Europe at higher prices, thereby creating a huge market and demand for Indian goods
c.  India's strategic position in Asia, connecting Central Asia and South East Asia provided companies with a lucrative prospect of establishing control in the region and whole of Asia. 
  d. Products like Indian silk, cotton spices like ​pepper, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon were in huge demand in Europe.Thus European comapnies pitted against each other
e. Some of the trading comapnies that came to India were British East India Company, French East India Company , ​The United East India Company by the Dutch and The Portuguese East India Company.
