Write the electron dot structure for sodium and chlorine atoms. How do these form a chemical Bond? Name the type bond so formed why does a compound so formed have high melting point?

Electron dot structure of sodium:

Electron dot structure of chlorine:

The outer shell electron of sodium is transferred to chlorine outer shell in order to attain complete octet by sodium and chlorine both.
The type of bond they form is ionic bond.
This bond is very strong through out the the lattice structure of sodium chloride which is reason for high melting point of sodium chloride.
