The food chain is a chain of an ordered sequence of different organisms through which energy is transferred in the form of food in different trophic levels.
Each step or level in the food chain is the trophic level.
For example: Grass ---> Deer

• Grass here represents the first trophic level which is generally occupied by producers.
• Grasshopper here represents the second trophic level which is generally occupied by herbivores.
