Why Virginia didn't tell her husband about what happened to her when she was locked up with the ghost?

Virginia saw no reason to share what had transpired between her and the ghost: she truly felt sorry for him and wept for his salvation. For her, this fact should not be made a spectacle or a story. All she shared with Duke of Cheshire was that Sir Simon had helped her realise the true meaning of life and death and why love is the greatest gift of all! Duke of Cheshire was satisfied with her answer and said she could have her secret as long as he had her heart.

When the Duke asked about what happened to her when she was locked up with the ghost, then Virginia requested him not to ask her because it was Sir Simon who made her see what life is and what death signifies and why love is stronger than the both.
I hope this was helpful..
