why role of oxygen in the regulation of respiratory rhythm is quite insjgnificant

There is no receptor for oxygen in the carotid artery and aortic arch which sends information to the respiratory rhythm centre for regulation of respiratory rhythm. There are receptors for carbon dioxide and hydrogen ion in the carotid artery and aortic arch. As soon as they bind signals are being sent to respiratory rhythm centre to control the respiratory process. Therefore the role of oxygen in controlling respiratory rhythm process in insignificant.
