Why is new economic policy known as the policy of economic reforms?

The new economic policy of 1991 is also referred as policy of economic reforms because it initiated three major reforms or changes in the economic policy of India namely, liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation. These changes were responsible for integrating Indian economy with the globe. The changes bought by economic policy of 1991 were revolutionary and hence, were referred as economic reforms.
