Why is electric wire covered with plastic

because plastic is an insulator..it does not allow electric current to pass through it..it breaks the flow of electricity to the other objects that touch the wire

plastic is a insaulator to control the flow

Electricity is a dangerous form of energy and it can kill. Covering electrical wires in plastic guarantees that the electrons flowing through the wires will not flow through your body when the wire is touched.

to prevent them from touching anything that conducts electricity, the electrical device could be damaged or you could be electrocuted, naked wires could even start fires, if the negative and positive wires touch each other it will ' earth out ' the device.. there are many reasons..

To control the flow as plastic is an insulator

When current flows form the wire and someone touch it, it may cause an electric shock so plastic is covered over it because it is an insulator.

because it is a bad conductor of electricity and it does not allow the current to pass through it

the plastic is a insulator. Insulator means a thing that doesnt allow electricity to flow through. as wire can give a electric shock to the person, the plastic covering which is the insulator doesn't save the person from getting electric shock.
