 Why is compass needle kept in a classed glass vessel?

SO THAT NONE OF THE FORCE LIKE WIND OR OUR HAND MOVES IT ,IF THE FORCE MOVES IT WILL CHANGE ITS DIRECTION AND WOULD BE A TASK TO FIND THE WRIGHT LOCATION AGAIN
