Why is alpha century found as the nearest star. why not pole star ?

Dear Student ,
Pole stars are the star which aligned to Earth’s Axis of Rotation & whose apparent position is directly above the north or south pole when viewed overhead,as it is naked closest star from north pole and it can be any star not a fixed star so the answer is Alpha centauri
After the Sun, the Alpha Centauri is the nearest star from the Earth. The Alpha Centauri is the nearest star after the Sun.
The Sun and its planets have some pretty close-by stellar neighbours out here in the outskirts of the Milky Way Galaxy.
While many stars are thousands or millions of light-years away, the closest ones lie within a few light-years.
