why he,ne,and ar are called inert gases.

  1. An inert gas is a gas which does not undergo chemical reactions under a set of given conditions. The noble gases often do not react with many substances.
Since He,Ne and Ar belong to group 18 they have completely filled shell and have 0 valency so they do  not undergo chemical reactions  which makes them inert.
    Hope it helps!!!
