temp. changes due to change in heat energy for a body. at melting and boiling point heat energy applied is used to change the physical state of the body instead for change in temperature.hence temp. remains constant

Zoya Shah answered this
the temp. remains costant because the heat is used up to change the state of matter (from sold to liquid or lquid to gas)

bcoz it is boiling

The temperature is used up on the breaking of the molecules and the temperature remain unchanged

why does the temperature of a substance remain constant during its melting point or boiling point

Nidhi Kinger answered this
Because of phase transition ie from solid to liquid during melting and from liquid to vapour during boiling. So just to change over from one phase to the other heat is totally utilized and hence no chance to have a rise in temperature. So temperature remains constant.
