Why Does The Caterpillar Only Feed On Mulberry Leaves????

Suraiya is right. The term caterpillar is a general term for the the larval stages of butterflies and moths. Different caterpillars have different preferences as far as eating is concerned. If you are talking about mulberry leaves specifically, then the caterpillar or the larval stage of the Silk Moth, Bombyx mori, feeds only on Mulberry leaves. Every moth chooses a specific kind of tree or shrub to lay it's eggs on, and the caterpillar will naturally have a tendency to chew the leaves of that very tree or shrub.

Different species of caterpillar feed on different types of leaves. The silk worm feeds on the Mulberry leaves to get the specific nutrients that they need. They also eat Mulberry leaves since it is their favorite food. Silk worms can also eat Beetroot leaves if they have not been eating Mulberry leaves. For instance, if they were not able to feed on Mulberry leaves or if there is a shortage of this particular species of leaves, they might turn or will have to turn to beetroot leaves to fill their empty stomachs or they might die.

I hope this piece of information was useful :)
