Why does saheb speak in a manner of explanation when asked about his shoes by Anees Jung??(Chapter : Lost spring)

Sahed spoke in such a manner because he was delighted to get those shoes. The fact that they were discarded shoes of some rich boy, who perhaps refused to wear them because of a hole in one of them but this did not bother him. For one who had walked barefoot, even shoes with a hole was a dream to come true.
