why does benzene undergo electrophilic substitution reactions easily and nucleophilic substitutions with difficulty??? comment urgently

Hi Sankalp,
Benzene is an electron rich molecule. Thus, it is readily attacked by electrophiles. Nucleophiles on the other hand seek electron deficient sites. This is why; benzene undergoes electrophilic substitution reactions very easily.
Hope, this answers your question.
Cheers!
