why do dry seeds swell when they are placed in water??

 hello dry seeds swell up in water due to process of endosmosis that is water moves from a region of higher concentration to lower conc.. and cells absorb water and become turgid dry seeds swell up coz they r placed in a hypotonic solution so endosmosis takes place..
