Why did'nt the sparrows eat the bread scrumbs offered to them?

When grandmother was alive she used to give them bread crums to eat. When the grandmother died then here family members did so however for sparrows grandmother was their everything and they could not accept same hospitality from other in this grief they rejected the bread crums.
