WHY DID ALA UD DIN KHALJI INTRODUCE THE MARKET POLICY  HOW DID HE ENFORCE IT

Dear Student,


a. Alauddin Khalji introduced a series of market reforms to ensure that goods were avail able to his subjects and they lived comfortably.
b. Also to ensure that that they was no shortage of commodities at the time of famine.
c. To maintain balance between demand and supply.

d. To ensure proper and regular supply of revenue for maintenance of empire and army
e. He also ensured that framers do not engage in hoarding.
f. He also set up four separate markets referred as Shan Imandi. These markets catered to different needs like cloth, dry commodities, sugar, grains, horses etc.
g. There was also a separate market for merchants where they could trade.

 He ensured that his market policies were effectively enforced through :

i. He appointed revenue officers to collect revenue which was fixed as per the land size.
ii. Further strict punishment was meted out to those who violated his policies
iii.He maintained government controlled store houses for grains and other commodities and conducted frequent checks to ensure regular supply of goods.
iv. He ensured that prices of every good /commodity was fixed
v. He also appointed Muhians who check the market and present reports to him in its functioning.
