why are patients suffering from dysentry are given oral rehydration solution (ORS) ?

Dysentry is an inflammatory disorder of intestine, particularly colon which result in  severe Diarrhoea. During Diarrhoea,loose motion, fever, dehydration, etc occur. To cope up with the loss of body water caused by dehydration, ORS is given to the patient.

ORS or Oral Rehydration Solution is a simple treatment for dehydration associated with diarrhoea. It contains is a solution of common salt and sugar dissolved in water. It is taken by mouth.
