Who were the Rajputs? From where did they originate?

Dear student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query.

The word Rajput has its origin in the Sanskrit language .It comes from the word Rajputra which means son of a King or ruler in Sanskrit. Some scholars believe that Rajputs were the descendants of Central Asian tribes. These tribes settled in India after Hun Invasion. But most of the Scholars agree that the belonged to the Khatriya clan. Some Rajputs called themselves Suryavanshi, belonging to the Sun family. However four clans considered themselves to be a part of the fire family .

Hope this information will clear your doubt.
