Who is AR Desai

Dear student, Akshay Ramanlal Desai was an Indian social activist, born on 26 April, 1915 at Nadiad in Gujarat. Desai was influ­enced by Marx and Engels and Leon Trotsky. He is regarded as one of the pioneers in introducing the modern Marxist approach to empirical investigations. Desai consistently applied Marxist methods in his treatment of Indian social structure and its processes. He was a doctrinaire Marxist. He rejected interpretations of tradition with reference to religion, rituals and festivities. Desai majorly contributed in change of Indian society and social foundation of Indian patriotism. Regards
