who is a witness and an enumerator?

Witness and enumerator are two different persons

A witness is a person who is expected to posses knowledge of some event. He is the one who was present during the event and has seen, heard or observed the occurrence of the event. A witness is an important source to collect information/data specially in Indirect Oral Investigation. 

Enumerator on the other hand, refers to a person who personally visits individual to collect information from him/her. They visit homes of the individuals with questionnaire and fills up the form on the basis of answers given by the individuals. Example of enumerator can be officials visiting your house during the time of census.
