While doing a test with iodine Paheli some drops of iodine fell on pahelis socks and some fell on pahelis teachers saree. The sarees colour became blue black but nothing happened to pahelis socks. Why?

Actually, the starch makes a complex with iodine which changes the color of the complex to intense blue and since the sarees are generally polished with starch so the iodine could react with this starch and changes the color to blue.
Socks does not have starch, so their colour remains unchanged.​
