The local bodies that function in the Urban areas are :
1.Municipal Corporation for major cities: It is situated in large urban areas and have greater autonomy in functioning.
2.Municipal Council for smaller cities
3.Nagar Panchayats are found in the areas which are on the way of transition from rural to urban.
The departments under Municipal corporations are :
1)Public health and sanitation department
2)Water department
3)Town planning department
4)Department for public amenities
5)Education Department etc
The departments under Municipal council are same as Municipal corporation.
