when snow melts it does not causes flouds.why?

Normally, melting of snow does not cause floods but when excess melting occurs it can lead to floods. It depends on the temperature of a place & the amount of snow. When there is high temperature -snow melts, some of its water flows into the river while some amount gets evaporated. But, in case of colder regions if the slow melts then there are more chances of flood as the rate of evaporation is also low.

And we also know that rainfall and snowfall both are forms of precipitation. When the temperature of the surroundings is low then precipitation occurs in the form of snowfall as the temp. rises the precipitation occurs in the form of rain. Heavy rains can also cause floods.

For example - Red river flood in United states & Canada.

when snow melts it does not cause floods because it meets at rivers. During summer the water is evaporated in the air and therefore the water gets less in the rivers and because of hotter climate the snow melts. Thats why when the snow melts it does not cause floods.

due to freezing of water and property of water to expand beyond 4degree celsius the snow looks like a huge chunk but have little water secondly the snow is a part of river so volume of river remains same even after melting

thirdly small corrections are made by sunlight helping wayter to evapourate and  not causing floods

snow ,as it melts, joins a river and the rate os change of snow to water will not increase rapidly
