When Mukesh says that he doesn't want to fly an aeroplane, why does Anees Jung say that, his embarrassment has not turned into regret??? What will be the regret ir what will Mukesh regret??(chapter : Lost spring)

Dear student,
Mukesh is the son of a poor bangle maker who dreams of becoming a motor mechanic someday because that is the limit of imagination that he can have according to the author. Even this dream of his is far fetched according to Mukesh but he will still try to achieve it and is ready to travel long distances on foot to learn the skill.
We see that there are no airports near Firozabad and hence, very few planes are seen flying in the sky. Mukesh is a practical boy and he knows that the dream of becoming a pilot was a dream that he even could not fulfill in his dreams and so he resisted from aspiring to becoming one.
Thus, the author says that at this tender age itself, his imagination and aim are becoming constricted due to the poverty and lack of resources around him which at a later age might just turn into regret.
