When did the poet really arrive at a stage when his childhood has really gone for ever?

Dear student 

The poet really came to know that he was an adult when he realised that he had a mind of his own and therefore had thoughts of his own, thoughts that nobody could change. He realised that as an adult he had the responsibility to think for himself, even though he could chose to do whatever he wished to do, as his thoughts were his own and nobody else's.
